'MANAXA' 'cruel' or 'beautiful'?

Question do you find the MANAXA ceremony in 'Slaves of the Mastery' cruel selfless game. Or a stunningly interesting and beautiful dance? Question

I reckon it's meant to be both - that's the point.
In theory I would definitely agree with Pinto, that it is terrible and cruel and should be stopped.  I hope that if I was there, I would be able not to watch.  But of course it is also described as fascinatng an beautiful, and since as human beings everyone is intrigued and appalled at the idea of death, and susceptible to mob rule, I might end up enjoying it, in a way, like Sisi.

As an idea, or an imaginary thing in a book, I like it - it is a rather brilliant way of illustrating human emotions and tensions, and it makes for drama and beutiful imigary the story, reveals things about the charactors, and is intruiguing kind of neat.  It also has some historical context - it has a lot in common with the gladiator fights in ancient Rome, raising comparisons between the imaginary society in the book and societies past and present in the real world.

If the manaxa was real, it would be wrong, and cruel, and I hope that I would hate it.

I vote beautiful, but it is both. If I got to see it performed I should think it a work of art, but if someone got killed it would be horrible to see. I'm pretty sure that wether I would like it or not that I would be drawn in.
